Tea Party Demo - Double Dutch Crew
Price:£2.75
Supplier:Floppyshop
This demo believe it or not was written in Omikron basic, having
seen the Overlanders Demo, I was amazed at what you could do with
GFA Basic never mind assembler, and this shows that you needn't
program in assembler, if you are happy with Basic.
The demo consists of ten seperate screens, and they are as
follows:
The intro screen:This screen uses steady rasters, which are
quite uneasy to do in basic (I should no seeing as there are no
interuppts!).
The Second intro:A distorting logo saying "TEA PARTY DEMO",
and the effect of melting names of the Double Dutch crew members
and a scrolling ground. Also in this screen is a massive
cadillac sort of car that appears in it are two men who greet
you and continue driving along the screen. These grafix are
quite fantastic!
MAIN MENU: At the bottom of the screen, there's a
four-bitplanes scroller and at the top, a picture of an
ATARI 1040 ST. Each screen is shown as a different disk
which you can scroll up to choose the screen you wish to load
When you select the demo, it loads the disc into the drive, and
loads the demo up, the actual drive click is heard on the demo.
This is quite a great main menu for basic.
There are various other screens consisting of,
VIDEO: A computer screen placed on a Hi-Fi with grafix
equalizers. A scroll passes on the screen, and the scroll text is
very funny to read too.
COLOR BURST: This features very steady rasters beneath a big TEA logo.
And basically there are quite a few colours on screen in these
rasters.
SINE SCROLL: This screen features a nice sprite
moving around the screen of which the top half has a picture of a
city at sunrise, and there is a scrolltext which bounces about in
sine waves.
BIG SCROLL: This screen is just filled with a massive multi-
coloured scroll, its just massive.
SONG: Features a Quartet tune with a picture, no graphic
animations though because its not possible whilst playing a
quartet tuney.
LAST SCREEN:This is the last screen of the demo and features
several small scrollers and a big colorful DDC logo separated
in two parts which goes left then right. This screen is
absolutely stunning!.
The musix in this demo is also superb and this is a demo that
will remain in my collection. Its just superb, and assembler
programmers should just take a long look at it, and wonder what
they have done wrong (not Double Dutch Crew - they have done
right!)
